Best places to visit in Ireland's west and south-west
Ireland has far more places to visit than any one guide can cover. This site deliberately focuses on three neighbouring areas along the Atlantic coast, where many visitors spend their time and where our tour collections are based. It is a curated selection, not a ranking of the whole island.
Galway, Connemara and the Aran Islands
Galway city is a lively base on the bay. West lies Connemara and the port of Rossaveel; offshore, the three Aran Islands of Inis Mór, Inis Meáin and Inis Oírr, reached by ferry or a short flight.
Killarney and County Kerry
Killarney sits beside Ireland's first national park and is the starting point for three very different days: the Gap of Dunloe mountain pass, the Ring of Kerry loop and the Dingle Peninsula.
Dublin, Wicklow and the north coast
From Dublin, the monastic valley of Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains are an easy day. Further north, the Giant's Causeway and the Antrim coast are a classic day out from Belfast.
